Windows Restaurant (Red Lion Inn Lloyd Center)

Windows Restaurant
Red Lion Inn--Lloyd Center
1021 N.E. Grand Avenue
Happy Hour 4-7 p.m. daily

Two of us are engaged (not to each other) and have upcoming weddings. Our friend (the third blogger) planned a special BFF hair and makeup party for the three of us so we could get some ideas about how to do our hair and makeup for our respective weddings.  She decided it would be best to do it at a hotel so none of our pesky fiances/husbands got in the way.  We ended up at the Red Lion Inn by Lloyd Center so that we could take the Max downtown if we decided to go show off our new looks.

Once we were at the hotel I realized that the hotel bar, Windows, was where I went for dinner before my high school prom! We couldn't resist going to check out the happy hour, and on the elevator up we were given a recommendation to try the coconut shrimp. I usually avoid shrimp because the portion sizes always leave me wanting more, but these came with fries, so my friend was able to fill up on them.  She said they were quite good.

I ordered the BBQ pork sliders.  They also came with fries, and I ended up liking the fries more than the sliders.  The sliders were good but would have been better with some coleslaw.

We all ordered garden salads off of the regular menu, and they were pretty basic, but they did have slices of jicama, which I really enjoyed.  Prices were very reasonable with both food and drink specials ($1 off of well drinks, beer and wine).

What really stood out here was the service.  Rashad was our main server both during happy hour and later on when we came back after our makeover session.  He was funny, helpful, checked on us frequently, and thought it was perfectly reasonable to serve us doubles to take back to our room.  He also made a special to-go bag for us full of bread and butter, even though it was not on the menu.

While I wouldn't make a special trip to Windows (overall it had pretty standard bar fare), I had a lot of fun here and would recommend it if you happen to be staying at Red Lion Inn.

  1. I really like this place - are you considering having your wedding there, or the reception? I just shot a wedding there a couple of months ago, and the food and atmosphere was great!
