My taste buds must be changing! Before the summer started, I was on a strictly BEET FREE diet. No, not a diet. A lifestyle. All of a sudden, though, I'm becoming more and more willing to give them a try. First it was the beet sliders at The Huckleberry Pub and now a fancy cocktail made with pickled beet juice. Who knows what's next. I guess I'll have to try them (again and again no matter how they are prepared) to find out.

I don't know why or when Siam Society on Alberta closed. I had been there a couple of times for happy hour and a couple of times for dinner (when they were still offering half off bottles of wine). I'm sad to see them go, but I'm kind of loving The Station. The food menu has a lot to offer, the drinks are original yet delicious, and their patio is one of those best kept secret types that you wouldn't even know is there until you walk through the restaurant.

The building is what I would call hefty. It would almost be overpowering if it weren't for their beautifully done up bar. Seriously, it's gorgeous (and the picture doesn't come close to capturing the shine). They've decorated a chunk of the wall with old danger signs (in all sorts of languages) to complete the power station feel. It's a great touch, but it's really the food that matters most. The food and the drinks. (And the company, but that's up to me not them....)

We enjoyed our meal while out on the patio. Sharing everything meant that we were able to order more and more and more from the menu. We started with the Arancine. Theirs are filled with sauteed mushrooms and might possibly be made with brown rice (or the mushrooms made me think that was the case). I loved the crispy outside and the dipping sauce. And the small salad that accompanied the Arancine was topped with the most flavorful tomatoes I have had yet this summer.

Following the first plate of deliciousness, we ordered the house salad (with more of those tomatoes) and the macaroni and cheese. They have all sorts of add-ons to go with the mac and cheese. To keep consistent, we went with mushroom and more tomatoes. I loved the consistency of the dish, that it was a beer cheese sauce, and the fact that you can add extras into the mix.

They have so much more to offer on their menu that I'm sure to be back soon. I'm already eager to try the grilled artichoke and one (or more) of their discounted cocktails. The Beet the Heat was incredibly refreshing and the Maple Leaf (made with actual Maple Syrup) was a big hit as well. Or maybe we'll go on a Wednesday to take advantage of their half off bottle of wine special. Two dollars off their signature cocktails is a real steal compared to some places around town and a fifty percent discount on wine is even better.

  1. We just discovered this place a few months ago. Everything was fantastic. The menu must change a far amount, because the things we had are gone. I can't wait to go back. If they have the chicken dish on the dinner menu, order it. I won't tell the others you did. :)

  2. They are luxurious re-defined. Cheap Taps UK could be the inadequate bit in your jigsaw problem of one's bathroom. Fundamentally receiving a Waterfall Taps person must not be adequate, it's necessary that you simply know what sort of Bathroom Sink Taps appliances fit your Taps Sale. That will not solely necessarily mean matching them while using tiles and ground of the lavatory, on the Bathroom Accessory hand coordinating his or her being compatible with your living Kitchen Taps with regard to normal water pressure and a few different www.uktaps.co.uk.
